I met a creative named Danny Killion, owner of Weathered Wood, quite a few years ago who was making things from driftwood and reclaimed lumber. Over the years his work has evolved into some amazing pieces of furniture, lamps, and wedding arbors (including ours.) We loved his work so much we decided to have our wedding arbor installed in our backyard to welcome guests.
When we purchased our house, every room was painted in various shades of grey. Initially, the grey paint works, but very quickly it looked dreary and cold. I wanted to make our healing room/library cozier. I kept trying to visualize something to fill the corner below between the library and the dining room and then one day Danny posted a photo of driftwood tree he had made for a client on Instagram. I instantly knew I wanted one in this space!
His process was fascinating. He pulled his van into our driveway and started to unload driftwood. Then it seemed he went into a vetting process to decide which pieces of wood would be best for this project. He brought the wood in and spent the better part of the day, slowly and meticulously and creatively placing and screwing the tree together resulting in the most magical healing library one could ask for!
Having this earthy driftwood tree in our home has filled me up with joy. I am curious however, what
Here in Upstate New York, we’ve had our first snow fall. Later today I’ll be in the healing library, lying on my infrared Biomat looking up at this magical tree.
Thanks for reading.
Be well,
Tracey
